XRT 8S Battery Buying Guide
Battery Voltage
Just like other RC bikes, the 1/5 Traxxas XRT 8S can only handle certain voltages. It has a voltage limit of 29.6V, which is 2 4s lipo batteries, and if this limit is exceeded, a lot of heat will be generated which will damage the motor and ESC. Conversely, a low battery voltage will result in a lack of power.
Battery capacity
Simply put, the larger the “mAh”, the more power the battery can provide. This means you can get more runtime. However, a large-capacity battery often comes with extra weight. So you need to balance capacity and weight based on experience.
Soft Case and Hard Case Batteries
RC batteries come in two packages, soft-shell and hard-shell. Soft-shell batteries are smaller and lighter in weight. Since hard-shell batteries have a PVC plastic shell to protect the cells, it is more rugged and durable. You can choose according to different needs.
